three Rules of a Good resume
Spending hours online looking for tips on that #jobwinningresume that everyone talks about, but noone's really seen? :)
In fact, there are only THREE RULES for it to be FUNCTIONAL (because that’s all it really needs to be!):
1️⃣ Easy to read and navigate.
An eye of an experienced Recruiter quickly homes in on the crucial details, which are: work experience, hard (!) skills, education. The simpler it's going to be for him/her to do that, the more chances are you'll get a call.
2️⃣ Only include relevant experience.
A day of a Product Manager at a startup may be very different from the one at Microsoft. The employer is not going to pay you money for your diverse, but irrelevant tasks. Think about which out of your past experience is going to be USEFUL for the company you target at, and describe it, using the keywords from THEIR JD.
3️⃣ A good resume is written from "what I am looking for" perspective vs "what I'have done" one.
Avoid simple enumerating your responsibilities and NO CASE copy-paste your current JD. In the end of the day, your resume is your marketing document, it's your business presentation, and its goal is - to persuade the Hiring manager that you are good for this specific job.
